It Is God

A few weeks ago, I was overwhelmed with many things. I told YAHWEH that I didn't know what to do. I told Him, that I knew I needed to cast my burdens on Him. But i also told Him, I didn't know what that meant, or how that was to be done. I cried out in desperation asking Him to take these burdens away whatever that meant. As I paused, I heard Him say to write down the current biggest things on my mind. I grabbed a strip of paper, and wrote down four things. I slipped it in my Bible and went on with my day.
Just this morning I saw that piece of paper again. I looked over what i wrote down and i realized that everything that is on that list, was taken care of. Two of them, are completely resolved. The other two, I have peace about, and have action steps for that are helping to resolve them even more. I am amazed at how God takes care of those who let him. So many times, I tried to resolve things on my own, like when i was depressed and thought seclusion was the answer, I just needed more time alone. Or when I had an unresolved conflict with a friend, so of course the conclusion was to ignore her and shut her out of my life. Every time I have tried to resolve things in my life, it simply got worse.
Exodus 14:14 says "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." Some versions say, you need only to be still. Being still, and silent, is opposite of what I want to do when faced with issues or dilemmas. I want to fight! I want to kick some problems in the face. But if you read the passage of Exodus 14, what i want, is opposite of what He asked the Israelites to do. The Israelites have just fled Egypt, they are between the Red Sea, and the fierce Egyptians. What possible solution is there? The people consider themselves dead. But Moses says "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, you have only to be silent."
One passage that God continually brings me back to, is 2 Kings 6. The King of Syria was angry with the prophet Elisha, because he was disclosing his plans to the King of Israel. The King of Syria then sent Horses and chariots and a great army and surrounded the city Elisha was in. Elisha's servant goes out early that morning, sees the entourage and freaks out. He runs back to his master, and asks "What are we going to do?" Elisha then says the outrages statement of "Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." Elisha prays that the servants eyes would be opened, then the servant sees the horses and chariots of fire, and the servant knows who is in charge.
We must also know who is in charge, who orchestrates life. Sometimes God calls us to be like Moses and do impossible things. Other times He calls us to be like the servant, to simply listen to the music. Listen and be silent. To watch God do impossible things. In life, God calls us to be both Moses and the servant. He will call us to do great and impossible things in His name. Other times He asks us to let Him do impossible things apart from us. Both are great and noble things. Both are essential. However, the key to both of them, is knowing who is in charge. Knowing that when we do great things, it is God. And when we sit back, and let God do great things, it is God also. I can never claim to understand God or His ways. But i do know that just like in both those passages God did that for His glory. He told Moses I'm doing this so that they know I am God. And even though in the second passage it doesn't explicitly say those words, I'm willing to speculate, that was also a major factor.
Whatever is going on in your life, God is in charge. Ask Him, "What's my part in this? Would you like me to do something great in Your name? Or would you like me to be silent, to let You work?" Whatever He asks you to do, know that those who are with you are more than those who are against you. Know that God is in control! And that He is a good Father and a Righteous Warrior. Let God take care of you, and let Him work a great salvation in your life.
